Neighbourhood Profile: Queensbury

The Queensbury neighbourhood was one of the first areas to be developed in North Vancouver. Located South of Keith Road below Grand Boulevard and just to the East of trendy Lower Lonsdale.

In the 1940’s the Lynn Valley Streetcar ran East on 4th street as far as Queensbury where it turned North and headed towards Grand Boulevard. Queensbury was home to wartime houses build in 1941-42 or the shipyard workers employed by Burrard Dry Dock and North Van Ship Repairs at the foot of Lonsdale. Today the trolley tracks are gone but some of the wartime houses are still there.

More recently there have been newer houses built here thus making this a neighbourhood with a range of homes from old to new. Residents enjoy the close proximity to Lonsdale area shops, the vast Grand Boulevard park and easy commute across the Second Narrows bridge. There is also a small commercial area frequented by locals on Queensbury Avenue.

Although there are no schools located in this area, there are 2 nearby schools which service the children in this region, Ridgeway and Brooksbank Elementary are both within walking distance.
