North & West Vancouver

Share Article

North Vancouver is the home of two municipalities: a compact City facing Burrard Inlet and a larger, suburban–like District surrounding it on three sides. West Vancouver has only one municipality, the District of North Vancouver, spanning from The Lions Gate Bridge to Horseshoe Bay.

The North Shore is situated in one of the most spectacular geographic settings anywhere. The land rises up from the waters of Burrard Inlet through forested slopes to the Coast Mountains. Over the past century and a half, much of the temperate rainforest that originally covered those slopes has been cut, canyons have been bridged, rivers dammed, and mountains traversed by roads. The North Shore is home to nearly 180,000 citizens.

Most North & West Vancouver attractions are just a 20-minute drive from downtown Vancouver across the Lions Gate Bridge or the Second Narrows Bridge. Local residents are fortunate to have 2 of Vancouver’s top attractions at their doorstep: The Capilano Suspension Bridge & Grouse Mountain with its famous skyride. The North Shore is just a 90 minute drive to world class skiing in Whistler and is a short commute from downtown via one of 2 bridges.

Local residents can be found enjoying walks through the thousands of trails, swimming at Ambleside or kayaking in Deep Cove, exploring Lynn Canyon and its rushing headwaters, or shopping and enjoying a coffee in one of our many great neighbourhoods.
