Selling Costs

There are usually only 3 expenses when selling your home. The real estate commission, GST on the commission and a lawyer or notary’s fees.

  1. The Real Estate Commission is to be determined with your realtor.
  2. GST of 5% is payable on the Real Estate Commission. No rebates on GST on Commission.
  3. Lawyer or Notory fees and expenses for attending to the execution of documents ($500 – $1500).*

  • Costs of clearing title, such as discharge fees charged by encumbrance holders and prepayment penalties (costs vary).
  • The Real Estate Commission is to be determined with your realtor.
  • GST of 5% is payable on the Real Estate Commission. No rebates on HST on Commission.
  • GST of 12% is payable on the purchase of a new construction home.
